Following the news that WWE fired both Dan Ventrelle and Sue Aitchison last week, PWInsider.com has now reported that Sid Scala has also been let go. For those unaware, Scala was the former on-screen NXT UK Assistant General Manager and had been working behind the scenes as a coach and producer. As of writing, no official reason for his departure has been confirmed, although as he hasn’t been used in so long, it’s more surprising he was still even employed.
“WWE released former NXT UK Assistant General Manager Sid Scala over the past week, PWInsider.com has learned.”
PWInsider.comWhile some fans remember Scala best for his time in NXT UK, on the internet, and specifically on social media, he is best known for being named in 2020’s #SpeakingOut Movement by current AEW star Mariah May. At the time, May was working as an independent wrestler and alleged that Scala had used manipulation techniques on her while her coach and even shared private details she confided in him with others regarding an assault. Subsequently, Scala threatened legal action against May, and she launched a GoFundMe to cover her costs, although it’s understood Scala never followed through with his threat.
