“Superstar” Billy Graham Dies Aged 79

In sad but not unexpected news, 79-year-old “Superstar” Billy Graham has passed away. The former WWWF Champion had been on life support due to a bone infection and organ failure after being hospitalized for several months and losing 80 pounds. He is survived by his wife Valerie, daughter Capella and son Joey, both children coming from a previous marriage.

The legendary WWE Hall of Famer was a former bodybuilder who became one of the biggest draws in pro wrestling history by helping sell out Madison Square Garden 19 out of the 20 times he was in the main event. And while not considered a great worker, he was incredibly charismatic and influenced the likes of Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura, Dusty Rhodes, and Scott Steiner through his look and promos.

While best known for his time with WWE, the Hall of Famer also wrestled for the AWA, NWA, and New Japan getting over everywhere he went. Unfortunately, due to health issues stemming from steroid abuse, he had to retire in 1987, with his final program being with Butch Reed.
