Thanks to AEW, Sting had one of the greatest retirement matches of all time last year, which included his sons Steven and Garrett accompanying him to the ring and even getting involved in his final bout. And while it’s known he remains employed by AEW under their version of a Legends contract except for an appearance at All In, he has been keeping a low profile since stepping away from the ring.
However, it now appears he is planning something significant, as it has been noted that on January 7, he filed a trademark application for “Old Man Sting.” What this is for is unclear, but fans online have speculated it could be inspired by Marvel’s “Old Man Logan,” character who is Wolverine set in an alternative universe.
65-year-old Sting, real name Steve Borden, started wrestling in 1985 under the name Flash, initially forming a tag team with the Ultimate Warrior, who was called Justice. Subsequently, they would both become massive singles stars in the 90s as main event babyfaces. Yet despite Warrior initially looking like he was set for bigger things due to being positioned as Hulk Hogan’s replacement in WWE, ultimately, Sting would be more successful due to his longevity in the business.
