Despite not wrestling since 2003, Steve Austin returned to the ring at WrestleMania 38 and stole the show along with Kevin Owens. However, anyone hoping to see him compete again anytime soon will likely be disappointed, as the WWE Hall of Famer has disclosed on Instagram that he had a total knee replacement seven weeks ago.

“I am 7 weeks post op on a Total Knee Replacement. My left knee was on its last leg, and I have been putting this surgery off for years. Post op X-Rays show everything is healing nicely … Before starting PT, I came out of the gate aggressive and started walking way too soon and too far and really pissed off my new knee. Total Knee Replacement is a year long healing process, so I dont know what the hell I was thinking. Swelling is still an issue, but things are healing up nicely and getting solid. I am back in the gym and training. Nothing heavy yet. And no squats…”Steve Austin

While one of WWE’s biggest-ever stars, Austin doesn’t make many appearances nowadays; instead, he spends his time with his beloved cats on his ranch. In fact,it’s understood WWE offered him big money to appear at WrestleMania XL to help Cody Rhodes finish his story, which he turned down. Therefore, his proposed spot would go to The Undertaker, seeing The Rock given a chokeslam rather than a Stunner.
