Speculation On Reason Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus Will Take Place On Raw Instead Of SummerSlam

On Monday night, it was announced that Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus will take place in two weeks on Raw from Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Zoey Starks banned from ringside. And while fans are delighted the match is official, many are wondering why it won’t be taking place at SummerSlam despite several months of build. And now Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio has speculated the reason being that the SummerSlam Battle Royal, presented by Slim Jim, has taken their slot. With it noted, the company is receiving a big payday for the sponsored match.

They took the Trish Stratus match off. That match is being moved to Winnipeg, and that match was scheduled months ago. So, I don’t know if they timed through what they wanted, and they had to make some changes because that Slim Jim Battle Royal was added, and they’re making a lot of money from that one.

While it is surely disappointing for both Lynch and Stratus to be off SummerSlam, at least they will be given an opportunity to conclude their storyline in a featured match on Raw. And given their professionalism and the fact they are two of the top female stars in pro wrestling history, they will likely try and show management what they missed out on with an epic bout.
