It’s been a turbulent few weeks for metal legends Slipknot. Earlier this month the band announced that keyboardist Craig Jones was no longer with the group.
The band said in a statement: “To our fans, Slipknot is announcing that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future.”
The band didn’t give a reason for the split, and has since debuted a new masked member that fans have been trying to identify.
The band also announced earlier this month that percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan would be sitting out some of their upcoming tour to stay home to support his wife “through some health issues.” Crahan returned to the group for the band’s appearance at Download Festival as well as a few other shows, but the percussionist announced he will be sitting out the rest of the group’s European tour to continue supporting his wife.
“Hello to all of our fans,” Crahan wrote on social media. “Unfortunately I had to return back home to be with my wife due to her medical situation. Thank you for the overwhelming support for the few shows I was able to make. I’m so sorry for missing the remainder of these shows, I was really looking forward to being there. As always, I’m so gracious for your overwhelming support for our family. I will be seeing you all at our shows in July. See you soon and hail Slipknot.”
Crahan didn’t provide further details on his wife’s condition but did say previously that the couple had “been through this before,” hopefully indicating that it’s nothing too serious.
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor announced at Download: “First things first, god damn it, we got him back – make some noise for the Clown! Secondly, obviously, for his family, I want you all to scream your f*cking a*ses off so they can f*cking hear them back in America!”
