Earlier this year, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor shared a video message with fans addressing his mental health. This came following the singer’s cancelation of a solo North American tour. It was a scary moment for his fans.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming North American tour,” Taylor said at the time. “For the past several months my mental and physical health have been breaking down, and I reached a place that was unhealthy for my family and I.”
In another message, Taylor said: “I, over the last year, have had a complete and utter breakdown of boundaries, mental health, ego, entitlement, the whole nine yards, culminating in a very, very real, very near relapse that I kind of don’t recognize myself.”
Thankfully, it appears Taylor is doing a bit better, as he and his wife Alicia attended the CMLL lucha libre pro wrestling event in Mexico City on Feb. 20. Taylor was introduced to the audience and to viewers watching at home. “We welcome our special guest, Corey Taylor, the American singer and vocalist of Slipknot,” an announcer said.
Taylor went on social media to thank CMLL for the hospitality. “Gracias gracias gracias to @cmll_mx for having @aliciataylor and I to your incredible show!” he wrote. “Thanks to Atlantis for the pic and to @retrocmll for the wonderful tour!”
Taylor is a big wrestling fan and has worked with WWE and NXT in the past. He previously said he would love to be involved in a wrestling angle of some kind in the future. “Oh, man! I’ve thought about it — I’ve really thought about it,” he told Metro.co.uk. “Honestly, it’s one of the reasons why I try to stay in shape because you just never know! I don’t know if I could do a match, but I could probably be part of a storyline,” he explained. “I just thought… maybe, you know? You never know, man. We’ll see what happens. I’d love for something to happen but you never know.”
