Legendary hard rock group Skid Row has had a few singers since legendary iconic frontman Sebastian Bach exited the group in 1996. Singer Johnny Solinger joined the re-formed group in 1999 and was with the band until 2015. He was replaced by former TNT singer Tony Harnell, who left the group eight months later opening the door for ex-DragonForce vocalist ZP Theart. For years, there’s been speculation that a reunion with Bach might be in the works, but it has failed to materialize. Now, Skid Row has announced they have replaced Theart with former H.E.A.T. vocalist, Erik Grönwall. “It’s a new era for Skid Row,” the band said in a statement. “With a new album, a new single and a world tour, we’ve added a new voice. Welcome powerhouse vocalist Erik Grönwall, formerly from the band H.E.A.T. from Sweden.” Grönwall added: “Ladies and gents. I hereby declare the circle of all f*cking circles complete. You’re looking at the new singer of @officialskidrow #skidrow #erikgronwall”.

Grönwall is a former winner of “Swedish Idol,” Sweden’s version of the popular American franchise. He got on the show in 2009 by successfully auditioning with Skid Row’s “18 and Life.” He also sang tunes by Kiss, Iron Maiden and Queen on the show, and he joined Swedish melodic rockers H.E.A.T. in 2010. Last year, he released a cover version of “18 and Life” via all streaming platforms. “This song was basically the starting point of my professional career as an artist,” he said at the time. “I performed this song during my ‘Swedish Idol’ audition back in 2009. 12 years later it’s time to give this bad boy a try again. Here’s my version of the Skid Row song ’18 And Life’.”

A snippet of a new Skid Row song, “The Gang’s All Here”, which received its world premiere Wednesday on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk”, can be heard in the band’s Instagram post below. The song will be made available on March 25. Grönwall sang on H.E.A.T’s last four albums before exiting the group in October of 2020. Skid Row recently replaced Queensryche as the support act on rescheduled dates for the Scorpions’ “Sin City Nights” Las Vegas residency.
