Shotzi Shares Unfortunate Injury Update

Last week, it was reported that Shotzi suffered a knee injury during an NXT television taping. Apparently, this occurred during her match with Lyra Valkyria, with Shotzi landing awkwardly while attempting an apron DDT, and she subsequently had to be helped to the back by medical staff. And now the WWE star has taken to Instagram to reveal ahead of her scheduled surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, that she has suffered a torn ACL and will be out for around nine months.

“I tore my ACL which means I will be out of action for about 9 months. Thank you to everyone who has checked up on me. I am so sorry if I haven’t responded. I am just extremely devastated and angry. Some of you know, I have been through a lot the last few years and it has been so hard to keep up with what I think is expected of me and honestly my mental health had been at an all time low. But I’ve pushed through and I was feeling motivated and like myself again. I was hoping to go to NXT to prove myself again, earn some respect.”

Shotzi

31-year-old Shotzi, real name Ashley Urbanski, initially tried to get into the WWE via Tough Enough but withdrew due to health issues. Yet, not being put off, she continued to chase her dream and signed with WWE in 2019. From there, she built up a cult following in NXT before being called up to SmacKDown in 2021. Yet, while her main roster career would be stop-start due to a combination of injury and a lack of creative she has been more prominently featured under Triple H’s leadership.
