Shane Helms Comments On Cody Rhodes Using His Previously Banned Move

Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul stole the show during WWE’s King and Queen of the Ring event on Saturday, with fans impressed with both men’s athleticism. However, the big talking point coming out of the match was the fact that Rhodes used The Vertebreaker on Paul, which is a move that was previously prohibited under Vince McMahon. And now the man who popularized the move and produced the bout, Shane Helms, has commented on its return, saying Rhodes demonstrated a “Perfect technique.”

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Helms previously revealed in an interview that WWE had forbidden the move because it was deemed too dangerous, much like all piledriver-like moves except The Tombstone. Still, Helms said he wasn’t bothered at the time because the majority of the wrestlers he was facing in WWE at the time were far too big for him even to pick up let alone safely deliver the move on.
