Following Kairi Sane’s victory over Tam Nakano to retain the IWGP Women’s Championship, Sasha Banks, under the name Mercedes Moné would make her debut for New Japan. She did this by entering the ring and attempting to shake hands with the Kairi before laying her out, taking the microphone, and introducing herself as the CEO of the women’s division. She would subsequently promise to take the title from Kairi at NJPW Battle in the Valley, which takes place on February 18th in San Jose.
WWE suspended Sasha Banks after she and Namoi walked out on the company back in May. And subsequently, it’s been confirmed that her representatives successfully negotiated a release that allows her to work for other companies from January 2023. And while it’s understood that post-Vince McMahon, the company wanted to bring her back, financially, the two sides couldn’t agree. And now it seems inevitable that Banks will eventually appear for AEW, with it heavily rumored she will be Saraya’s mystery tag partner against Dr. Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter on the January 11th episode of Dynamite.
