Ronda Rousey shocked wrestling fans on Friday night when she made her Ring of Honor debut alongside Marina Shafir against current ROH Women’s Champion Athena and Billie Starkz in a match taped for an upcoming episode of ROH television. The former WWE and UFC star would enter to her regular theme music, Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation,” and there were chants of both “We want Ronda” and “No, we don’t.” Nevertheless, whether this was a one-off appearance or she is now a regular in the promotion remains unknown; however, it has been confirmed by Fightful Select that as of yesterday, she hadn’t signed a contract.
“As of Friday night, Rousey had not signed with AEW/ROH. Rousey was on a handshake deal with AEW.”
Fightful SelectRousey made sporadic appearances for WWE before officially signing with the company in 2017, going on to make an appearance at the 2018 Royal Rumble. Her in-ring debut would come a few months later at WrestleMania 34 when she teamed with Kurt Angle against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H in a highly praised match. Then, at the following year’s event, she would make history by being one of the first women to headline a WrestleMania against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Subsequently, she would take a break from the ring, becoming a mother during this time, before returning at the 2022 Royal Rumble for her second, less successful run with the company.
