The 68th annual Grammy Awards were held Sunday night in Los Angeles. The rock and metal categories don’t get as much recognition as they have in decades past, but the Recording Academy hands out awards for “Best Rock Performance,” “Best Rock Song,” “Best Rock Album” and “Best Metal Performance.”

“Best Rock Performance” went to Yungblud featuring Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Frank Bello (Anthrax) and Adam Wakeman (Sleep Token) for their performance of “Changes” during the Black Sabbath/Ozzy farewell concert.

“You do not expect to be up here and then you f*cking are, so it’s wild,” Yungblud said in his acceptance speech. “To grow up loving an idol who helps figure out your identity, not only as a musician but as a man, is something I’m truly grateful for. But then to form a relationship with them and honor them at their final show…we’re finding it so strange to comprehend.”

Yungblud beat out Amy and the Sniffers, Turnstile, Hayley Williams and Linkin Park.

“Best Metal Performance” went to “Turnstile” for “Birds.” They beat out Dream Theater, Ghost, Sleep Token and Spiritbox.

“Best Rock Song” went to Nine Inch Nails for “As Alive As You Need Me to Be.” They beat out Sleep Token, Hayley Williams, Turnstile and Yungblud.

“Best Rock Album” went to Turnstile for “Never Enough.” They beat Yungblud, Linkin Park, Haim and Deftones.

Yungblud’s full acceptance speech for “Best Rock Performance” can be viewed below.
