The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its inductees for the Class of 2024. Long-running snubs Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne and Peter Frampton will enter the Hall along with Mary J. Blidge, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Kool & the Gang and A Tribe Called Quest.
“It feels big,” Ozzy told Billboard. “I’m more than honored. With every new music venture there’s always a certain amount of surprise that comes when you see the fans embrace it, because no one wants to make a record and have it flop,” Ozzy continued. “I feel like I was invited to a party in 1980, and it hasn’t stopped. Not bad for a guy who was fired from his last band.”
Peter Frampton also commented via social media: “This is something I never expected. I am overwhelmed that I will be inducted into the @rockhall, especially alongside so many incredible artists who have gone before me. I can’t thank everyone enough for voting for me. You are the best. Somebody pinch me please!!”
Additionally, Alexis Korner, John Mayall and Big Mama Thornton have been given the Musical Influence Award. Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield earned the Musical Excellence Award, and Suzanne de Passe was given the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
