Rob Zombie fans were surprised to learn on Tuesday that longtime bassist Matt Montgomery, also known as Piggy D, was leaving the band.

“Dear Friends,” Montgomery wrote. “My time with Zombie has come to an end. It was an honor to entertain you for the last 18 years. I look forward to the future and wish everyone the best. Peace & Love, Matt Montgomery aka Count D., Piggy D., Giggles”. Montgomery joined the band in 2006 after original bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson left Zombie’s band to join Ozzy Osbourne.

Just a few hours after Montgomery’s announcement, Zombie took to Instagram to announce that “Blasko” was making his return. “After 18 years I am thrilled to announce that Blasko has returned,” Zombie wrote. “The original four-string Zombie monster is back. Get ready for a crazy summer of mayhem.”

“Blasko” played with Zombie from 1997 to 2006 appearing on “Hellbilly Deluxe,” “The Sinister Urge” and “Educated Horses.” Zombie’s current band consists of himself, guitarist Mike Riggs, “Blasko” and drummer Ginger Fish, who has played with Zombie since 2011.

Zombie will head out on a co-headlining tour later this year with Alice Cooper featuring support for Ministry and Filter. The tour begins in August.
