Ricochet To Depart WWE

Ricochet To Depart WWE

It recently became publicly known that Ricochet’s WWE contract is set to expire this summer, although, given the fact he is in a relationship with ring announcer Samantha Irvin, many assumed he would re-sign. Yet, after dropping the WWE Speed Championship on Friday to Andrade, it has been reported by PWInsider.com that the high-flying performer has made WWE aware he intends to depart the contract when his deal ends. Obviously, this has already led to speculation online that he is AEW-bound, although it’s likely New Japan, where he first found fame, would also be interested.

“PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources that WWE’s Ricochet has given notice that he intends to exit the company when his current contract expires this summer. We are told that Ricochet is expected to be written out of WWE storylines very soon in advance of the contract expiration.”

35-year-old Ricochet, real name Trevor Mann, first broke into the business in 2003 and, after a decade on the indies, received his big break via New Japan. There, he would become a worldwide star thanks to his matches with Will Ospreay, which became the talk of the business. Thus, nobody was surprised when WWE hired him in 2018 after he also impressed as part of Lucha Underground.

However, despite winning the Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship during his time with the company, many fans still considered him underutilized and underpushed. With a 90-second defeat to Brock Lesnar at Super ShowDown in 2020 seen by some as his career low point.
