It was recently revealed that Ric Flair would return to the ring again, with it rumored to be a six-man tag match featuring FTR, the Rock N’ Roll Express, and another yet named wrestler. Now, ESPN has provided more information on the 73-year-old’s return, revealing he will wrestle on an independent show connected to the Starrcast wrestling convention at the Nashville Fairgrounds on July 31. Flair would also provide ESPN with a comment where he referred to himself as The Man, despite it being understood he previously sold the trademark to this to WWE.
Flair had arguably the greatest ever pro wrestling retirement ever following his WrestleMania 24 match against Shawn Michaels. After that, however, financial hardship resulted in him needing to wrestle again. He did this initially on a Hulkamania tour in Australia, putting Hulk Hogan over several times before wrestling in TNA a dozen times over 18 months, with a match against longtime rival Sting being his final match in 2011.
