The Reason Why Miro Rejected AEW’s Recent Creative Pitch Has Been Reported

Fightful Select recently reported that Miro had been absent from AEW television due to creative having nothing for him. However, that was disputed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, with it claimed AEW did have a storyline for him, but Miro himself turned it down. And now Meltzer has provided some more information, reporting that Miro’s issue was that he would have to put his opponent over at Full Gear, which clearly didn’t work for him. Thus he remains off television until a storyline meets his requirements, which seemingly involves him going over.

In September, they came to him. You know, Tony Khan came to Miro, and he had this idea that would build to a match on the November pay-per-view, the November 19th pay-per-view. And he didn’t want to do it. It involved some people. It’s weird. A lot of people who come from WWE are very leery, obviously, Brian Danielson being the exception about doing jobs. And then it becomes very difficult to book when you don’t really want to do programs where you’re going to lose.

The start of Miro’s AEW run could have been better due to him being aligned with Kip Sabian and having a gamer gimmick. Thankfully, though, everyone involved realized it wasn’t working, and Miro would evolve into “The Redeemer” and “God’s Favorite Champion,” becoming one of the best characters and performers in the company. Nevertheless, he has been absent from television since September, only wrestling four times in 2022 so far.
