Despite at one time being one-half of the IWGP Tag Team Champions alongside Callum Newman, it’s been known for several months that Jeff Cobb had been working without a contract. Hence, there has been a lot of speculation the 42-year-old’s long-term future was with WWE. And now just hours before Backlash it has been reported by Fightful Select he is planned to debut during the premium live event.
Like many of the best technical in-ring workers, Cobb started out as an amateur wrestler. This would see him represent Guam at the 2004 Summer Olympics, although he would finish 21st out of the 22 computers in his weight class. Subsequently, he decided to pursue a pro wrestling career, and since then, he has worked for Lucha Underground, PWG, ROH, New Japan, and even AEW a handful of times.
