Thrashy Texas death metal band Creeping Death are currently out on tour supporting Carcass and Immolation. The band performed in Albuquerque, New Mexico over the weekend when their trailer full of gear was stolen out of a hotel parking lot. The band said that police were initially hesitant to help them recover the trailer after the band tracked it to a nearby closed business. Creeping Death have Apple AirTag tracking devices on their vehicle and trailer, and the band was able to track it to where it was being held, but police initially said there was “not enough to go inside the building and see.”

“Creeping Death’s trailer got stolen out of a hotel parking lot this morning,” drummer Lincoln Mullins tweeted.  “Yes it was locked up to the van, yes we have AirTags. Showed ABQ Police the exact location of 3 AirTags and they said it’s not enough to go inside the building and see…because the business was closed.” A day later Mullins and the band remained frustrated and said that police “won’t even come to the hotel to see the surveillance footage of our sh*t being taken.” Some hours later he added “Small update: they did come see the surveillance (4 hours after the initial call). No plates on the car visible.”

On Monday the band updated that their trailer and most of their gear was finally recovered. “THANKS TO AIRTAGS AND ONE VERY NICE ABQ SHERIFF (SURPRISINGLY) EVERYTHING WAS FOUND EXCEPT FOR MY BORROWED BASS DRUM CASE (SORRY BRAD) AND OUR UHAUL TRAILER,” he said. “THE NICE SHERIFF BOUGHT A LONGSLEEVE OFF OF US UPON US LEAVING THE CRIME SCENE,” he added.

Creeping Death’s latest EP, “The Edge Of Existence” was released late last year. “We’ve freely admitted that we are a selfish band, in so much as we really only write music for us,” guitarist Trey Pemberton said in a press release. “We make music that’s fun for us to play and that we like to listen to ourselves. After all, we’re the ones who are going to hear these songs the most, night after night.”
