Earlier this year, it became known that AEW’s Penta El Zero Miedo, also known as Pentagón Jr., would become a free agent in late 2024, along with his brother Rey Fénix. Therefore, there has been plenty of online speculation over their futures, with most assuming they were headed to WWE.
Yet, while Fénix is apparently not going anywhere due to AEW adding injury time to his contract, Penta officially departed the company at the end of November. And now seemingly indicating he is, in fact, WWE-bound, Penta would make a surprise appearance during AAA’s Saturday night show, where he gave a farewell speech to the Mexican wrestling scene, although noted that he would return to AAA one day.
39-year-old Penta broke into the business back in 2007, initially working as a masked character called Zaius. Then, after gaining experience, he would go on to debut for AAA as Dark Dragon before becoming Pentagón Jr. During his time with AAA, he would also work on the El Rey series Lucha Underground, which made him known to North American fans and therefore paved the way for him to wrestle for PWG, Impact Wrestling, and MLW. Still, his career reached new heights when he joined AEW alongside his brother in 2019, so it was somewhat unexpected that he decided his future was elsewhere.
