Pearl Jam played in Baltimore, Maryland on Thursday night, and the band played the riff to the Ted Nugent classic “Stranglehold” while singer Eddie Vedder repeated the lines “I don’t own a gun, I never wanna own a gun.” He went on with different variations of the line before the band eventually settled into one of their classics, “Evenflow.”
Nugent apparently caught wind of it and took to his X account to respond: “Hey Eddie join me on my RAV [Real America’s Voice] Spirit Campfire (show) to discuss how your insane liberal policies have created an explosion in engineered violent recidivism while you fight to disarm helpless innocent citizens.”
Nugent has long defended his right to bear arms under the Second Amendment. “I have the right from God, as outlined in the Second Amendment, to keep and bear — not keep in case, not keep in lock, not keep in truck — to keep and bear arms on my person on planet earth while I am alive,” Nugent said in 2021. “I hope people are paying attention, because these kinds of truisms are what has labeled me a radical and an extremist. Well, you’re right damn right I’m a radical and an extremist because I don’t speak sheep talk; I don’t speak German; I don’t speak ‘proper English’ because I’m a free American.”
