The big storyline currently in AEW revolves around who is the mysterious Devil that is tormenting MJF. And while fans have been making plenty of guesses online regarding who it could be, Dave Meltzer has now revealed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that one of the masked men portraying his goons has, at times, been Shawn Spears. This is notable because Spears recently announced on social media he was choosing to leave AEW; therefore, it’s almost certain he won’t be included in the reveal, whenever that is.
42-year-old Spears previously had two runs in WWE before requesting his release from the company in 2019. He would subsequently debut for AEW at their inaugural pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing, as part of the pre-show Casino Battle Royale. Later, it would be confirmed that he had signed a full-time contract and went on to have a memorable program with close friend Cody Rhodes. However, his push would only last a short time, and he soon slipped down the pecking order as Tony Khan hired bigger-name talents.
