One person has died and four other were wounded during a shooting at the Marquis Lounge in San Bernardino, California. According to CBS and NBC, the shooting took place around 9:30 p.m. on April 23 during a show by the death metal band Crawling Through Tartarus. The shooter, James Vincent Dickson, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a Facebook post by a friend of the band, Crawling Through Tartarus singer Matt Holzboog was one of the people shot. “Prayers for my boys in Crawling Through Tartarus after a violent shooting during their set last night in San Bernardino,” wrote Matt Berg. ”Zander Dixon was a brother to Jack Berg and me growing up and it’s terrifying to see the video of somebody opening fire. Their vocalist Matt was hit by two rounds and is dealing with surgeries now. Make sure you send lots of love their way. Share their music with your friends, buy some merch, wish them well etc.”

All four victims were listed as stable on Monday morning. Crawling Through Tartarus, based in Southern California, formed in 2019. According to TheNewFury.com: “The group follows a Greek mythology theme within their music, packed with heavy hitting riffs, brutal breakdowns, and earth shaking percussion that hits in all the right spots. Crawling Through Tartarus is one of those bands that have caught our attention from the get-go and have pulled us in further with each listen.” The band released its EP, “Libations,” on Jan. 28.
