Following two postponements due to the global situation, the Stadium Tour featuring Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts is finally set to take place this summer. Mötley Crüe signed a “cessation of touring” agreement prior to going out on their “farewell” tour some six years ago. Following the release of the Netflix movie, “The Dirt,” the band changed its plans and booked the much-anticipated trek. Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx recently answered numerous fan questions on Twitter about the upcoming tour and the possibility of the band releasing a new album. One fan asked, “Any chance for a new Mötley Crüe album prior to the stadium tour?” Sixx replied: “We released a bunch of new songs for the dirt soundtrack and I just finished Sixx AM hits album and LA Rats. Got to get onstage now.”
Sixx also answered various questions about the potential setlist this summer. On the chance of playing ‘Glitter’: “Not this leg.” On the chance of playing “Red Hot,” “Afraid” or “Fake”: “One of those for sure,” Sixx said. On the chance of playing “If I Die Tomorrow”: “Mabye next tour leg,” Sixx replied. He was also asked if the setlist would change during the tour, to which he replied, “Always.”
A photo of Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil, who has often come under fire online for some of his recent solo live performances and his physical condition, showed the singer looking slimmer than he has in some time as he and his girlfriend Rain Hannah celebrated the Easter holiday. Sixx was asked, “How’s the fitness training going for the tour?” He said: “Going great. Building stamina and less focused on heavy weights and more band and floor work.”
Sixx was also asked who some of his favorite new musicians are. “Some great new bands even I can say too many bands are over produced and pro tooled too death. Digging the young ones bring it to us raw and in yer face and as always SONGS are king.” The Stadium Tour begins June 16 in Atlanta and runs through Sept. 9 in Las Vegas.
