On January 20, 2026, WWE filed a trademark application with the USPTO for the name “Royce Keys,” covering wrestling exhibitions, performances, live events, broadcast media, online content, fan clubs, and sports entertainment services. Of course, this could be for any wrestler in WWE’s developmental system. However, given that Powerhouse Hobbs recently departed AEW and is believed to be joining WWE, many are speculating online that the new name may be for him.
Several former AEW talents have moved to WWE over the past few years, with varying approaches to their ring names. Ethan Page and Jade Cargill retained their established monikers upon joining, while others faced being renamed, with Ricky Starks becoming Ricky Saints and Mariah May debuting as Blake Monroe. Therefore, it is just as likely that Hobbs will be rebranded as it is that he will continue under his current name, seemingly with WWE management making decisions on a case-by-case basis.
