Tommaso Ciampa is set to depart WWE in the coming days, with his contract expiring this month. The belief is that he opted not to review, seemingly feeling there are more exciting opportunities elsewhere. And now, as the former NXT Champion prepares for life after WWE, it has been noted that on January 21, 2026, he filed trademark applications for the nicknames “Psycho Killer” and “Psycho King.“
40-year-old Ciampa, real name Tommaso Whitney, debuted in January 2005 after training under Killer Kowalski. From there, he thrived on the independents, especially as part of ROH. Subsequently, he joined WWE in 2015 and formed #DIY with Johnny Gargano, capturing the NXT Tag Team Championship before turning heel and winning the NXT Championship twice. However, once on the main roster, he was again positioned as a tag wrestler alongside Gargano, which clearly didn’t fulfill Ciampa’s career aspirations.
