Naomi Is Traveling To Japan Ahead Of Wrestle Kingdom 17

WWE suspended both Naomi and Sasha Banks after they walked out due to being unhappy with their creative during the May 15th episode of Raw. And while there is likely a lot more to the situation than simply feeling their tag team needed to be more utilized, as neither has commented yet, many questions still need to be answered.

Nevertheless, with Banks now known to be a free agent and scheduled for Wrestle Kingdon 17 on January 4th, it’s now been reported by PWinsider.com that Noami is also set to be in Japan as well. However, it should be noted she could simply be supporting Banks and may not intend to work for New Japan or Stardom herself.

As PWInsider.com broke several weeks ago, New Japan Pro Wrestling is bringing Mercedes Varnado in for the 1/4/23 Wrestle Kingdom 17 event at the TokyoDome. PWInsider.com can also exclusively confirm that Banks’ WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship partner Trinity “Naomi” Fatu is is currently slated to be in Japan.

Naomi signed a WWE developmental contract in 2009 and became part of Florida Championship Wrestling before it became known as NXT. Her main roster would come as part of The Funkadactyls alongside Brodus Clay. Somewhat surprisingly, though, she would far surpass him in terms of fame and in-ring recognition over the years and held the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship twice.
