Mötley Crüe Shares Update On New Music & Reveal They’re Working With Legendary Producer

Mötley Crüe has been in the rock headlines recently for a well-publicized ongoing legal battle with former guitarist Mick Mars.

Mars sued the band for his diminished cut of profits, said that most of the band doesn’t play live in concert, and then a major back-and-forth ensued where the band claimed the 71-year-old guitarist wasn’t cutting it anymore with his performances.

In news not related to something controversial, Mötley Crüe’s new guitarist John 5 shared that the band is in the studio recording. John 5 posted a picture of himself laying down tracks as well as pic of famed producer Bob Rock sitting at the mixing board. “Let’s do this @motleycrue #bobrock”, he wrote on Instagram.

Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee shared the same photos as well as one that showed himself, John 5 and Nikki Sixx in the “big studio.” He wrote: “Hit that mother f*cking record button Mr. Rock!!! Go!”

Rock previously worked with Mötley Crüe on “Dr. Feelgood,” new material for “Decade of Decadence,” the band’s 1994 self-titled effort, new material for their 1998 “Greatest Hits” record, new material for “Red, White & Crüe,” as well as “The Dirt.”

Earlier this month, Sixx confirmed that the band was writing new music. “Another killer songwriting day with Tommy Lee and John 5,” Sixx tweeted.

He offered more information in a follow-up tweet, writing: “We are writing. The creative process of songwriting has always been the heartbeat of our band. We’re gonna go in the big studio next week and record a few off the floor and see where it goes. We don’t have a definitive plan at this point. Just letting the songs guide us.”

John 5 previously wrote with Mötley Crüe for three songs on the biopic, “The Dirt.”

Sixx previously said of John 5: “He checks all the boxes. He’s a insane player. Has respect for our music, is funny as fuck and has history with us and we’ve written some pretty big hits together.”

John 5 said of his involvement with “The Dirt”: “Me and Nikki wrote on that. And dude, I fucking Mötley Crüe, and it was so cool for it to come to fruition. And to hear Vince [Neil, vocals] and Tommy and Mick and, of course, Nikki doing that… I think that song really gave me a real excitement of collaborating with someone. And seeing the video and the history of it, it was really pretty incredible.”
