Earlier this weekend, The Arizona Republic posted a review of the first night of Metallica’s “No Repeat Weekend” in Glendale, Arizona. The band’s 14-song setlist was two tracks shorter than every other opening night so far on the tour. The band reportedly cut the set short due to vocal issues suffered by frontman James Hetfield.

On Saturday, Metallica postponed Sunday’s scheduled concert when it was revealed that Hetfield caught C*VID.

“We’re very sorry to report that tomorrow’s scheduled ‘M72’ date at State Farm Stadium has been postponed to Saturday, September 9, 2023, as unfortunately Covid has caught up with James,” the band posted on social media. “We’re extremely disappointed and regret any inconvenience this has caused for you; we look forward to returning to complete the ‘M72’ No Repeat Weekend in Glendale next Saturday.”

“All tickets for September 3 will be honored at the September 9 show. For more information, including refund details if you cannot join next weekend, please visit SeatGeek.com. Keep your eyes on Metallica.com and our socials for additional details and updates. PS: All M72 Weekend Takeover events scheduled for today and tomorrow (9/2 and 9/3) are still happening.”

Earlier this week, Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider called Metallica’s “No Repeat Weekend” concept “self-serving.” Snider later backtracked somewhat in a post on X saying his comments weren’t meant as an attack on Metallica. “No need to call me, James (though I always love hearing from you). Read the article NOT just the headline. I wasn’t attacking @Metallica. It was a broader discussion on heritage artists playing new music and the majority of the audiences lack of interest. #sadbuttrue”.
