Heavy metal legends Megadeth have started their own cryptocurrency, $MEGA. “By buying, holding, and transacting with $MEGA, fans will gain access to exclusives and premium benefits. Cyber Army members that also hold $MEGA will unlock additional exclusives, access, and offers,” reads the release at Megadeth.com.
“Premium and Digital CYBER ARMY members” at Megadeth.com “automatically get some free $MEGA.” The band recommends members hold at least “10 $MEGA” to get “access to exclusive content, special tour access, Q+A’s, hangouts with the band and special items.”
Megadeth’s forthcoming album, “The Sick, the Dying … and the Dead!” is slated for a spring 2022 release. Frontman and guitarist Dave Mustaine said the new record builds on guitar riffs from Megadeth’s history. “A lot of the riffs have been saved over time,” he recently told American Songwriter magazine. “ A brand new song can be made up of something I wrote when I was 15 or 55. If it’s a good riff, I’ll save it.”
The band also announced the release of the new Megadeth Coloring Book, which features 25 classic album designs and iconic images from the band’s career. The book, which costs $20, is available at Megadeth’s online store.
