Matt Hardy Says “I Think The Next Couple Weeks Are Gonna Be Fun” As He Reveals Whether He Has Spoken To WWE

Despite being offered a new contract by AEW, Matt Hardy opted to explore free agency and is now no longer with the company. And while it’s known he could still return to AEW to work alongside his brother Jeff, he has now disclosed on his podcast that he has been in talks with WWE while adding, “I think the next couple weeks are gonna be fun.

“I am doing what I should be doing as a free agent, creating hype around myself. Yes, I have been speaking with AEW constantly. I have been speaking with WWE. I have been speaking with several people across several different platforms. So I think the next couple weeks are gonna be fun, the next few weeks are gonna be fun.”

49-year-old Hardy has had multiple runs in WWE, and it’s understood that prior to his departure in 2020, the company wanted him to stay. However, Hardy believed he would have more creative freedom in AEW and therefore joined Tony Khan’s promotion. Subsequently, he would go on to debut on a very memorable episode of Dynamite, which also saw Brodie Lee revealed as The Exalted One. Still, over time, he would become less prominently featured except for a short period following Jeff joining the company and reforming their legendary tag team.
