Matt Hardy Reveals Why Jeff Turned Down WWE’s Hall Of Fame Offer

Jeff Hardy was released by WWE following an odd incident at a houseshow where he left mid-match. Initially, the assumption was he was struggling with his past demons again. However, that would later be proven to be incorrect following a WWE drug test. WWE realizing they had overreacted, would attempt to re-sign Hardy and even offered him a Hall of Fame induction for this year. Yet, Jeff would turn it down and will officially become a free agent in March.

Now while speaking on his Twitch channel, Jeff’s brother Matt would discuss this in more detail. Specifically revealing that Jeff turned down the induction offer because the brothers going in together wasn’t available. This led to giving a hard no, seemingly ending discussions.

Jeff asked, “so you want to induct me into the Hall of Fame?” and he said, “well, let me ask you; I know you guys have spoken with AEW. Is this going to be the Hardy Boyz? Is this myself and my brother Matt?” And they go, “oh, no, no, no, no. We can’t get Matt. He’s under contract at AEW. You know, it would just be you.'” And Jeff said, “well, that’s a hard no.” He definitely stood up for the team of the Hardy Boyz. Matt Hardy

The brothers have already announced a Hardy Boyz tour commencing March 12th, which will see them wrestle together for the first time in three years. Long term, though, the expectation is that Jeff, who is still one of the most popular wrestlers in the business, will end up in AEW with Matt. Which is likely precisely what WWE was trying to prevent with their Hall of Fame proposal.
