Matt Hardy Comments On Chris Bey’s Injury

Sadly, the big news story in pro wrestling this week has been the neck injury sustained by Chris Bey during his match alongside Ace Austin against The Hardy Boyz. And while the information remains sparse regarding exactly how his neck broke, Matt Hardy has now commented on the unfortunate situation on his podcast, noting it was a freak accident. Additionally, he acknowledged the GoFundMe, which has been launched, and confirmed that TNA is paying Bey’s medical bill and that the money raised is for his living expenses.

“It was a very freak accident, and it just happened in a way, it was something very standard. There was nothing crazy, there was nothing outlandish or outrageous, there was no high level of risk involved in what was going on, it was just a very simple thing. … There was a point where Chris was just lying there. Once we understood he was in that condition, the match came to an end, and we tried to take care of him. He ended up having some emergency surgery that night, and it ended up being productive. People think it came out well. He’s on the path to recovery, but it’s gonna be a slow process.”

“There’s been people that have been donating and giving him money just for his life in the weeks and months ahead, however long it takes him to recuperate from this so he doesn’t have to worry about where his income comes from. Yes, TNA is taking care of the expenses, but it’s just to make sure that he’s safe and focuses on himself.”

It is believed that Matt Hardy performed the move on Bey, which caused his injury, and therefore, it’s likely he is also struggling at this time. However, considering his track record as a total professional, it’s obvious this was a total accident, and hopefully, he is able to come to terms with what happened, and it doesn’t end up tainting his illustrious career like similar incidents did to D’Lo Brown’s and Marty Jannetty’s.
