This past Friday night saw AEW’s Mike Santana kick off his singles career on the indies by attending House of Glory to confront Matt Cardona. And now the ex-WWE star has fired back at the former tag team specialist and threatened to show up to AEW television and show him “who the true King of New York really is.” Seemingly teasing a confrontation at AEW’s upcoming Grand Slam-themed episode of Dynamite.
Following his WWE release in 2020, Cardona debuted for AEW on the July 29th episode of Dynamite, where he saved Cody Rhodes from Dark Order members Alex Reynolds and John Silver. And while he would team with Rhodes against the duo the following week, he would only wrestle one more time for the promotion as part of an eight-man tag team match at All Out. With it subsequently revealed he had only signed a short-term contract.
