Matt Cardona signed with AEW on a short-term deal back in 2020, making his debut saving Cody Rhodes from a Dark Order attack. However, despite wrestling on Dynamite and pay-per-view, he never received an extension and would abruptly depart the promotion. And now he has spoken about that period, revealing that he was disappointed not getting an extension at the time. However, he considers it a blessing in disguise now, as he thinks he would have ended up a regular on AEW’s YouTube shows.
Cody set me up for sure, got me that AEW cup of coffee run. I am grateful for that. Didnāt work out at the time, Iāll admit I was bummed out. I was like, “Oh sht* now what.” Looking back, a blessing in disguise. If I had signed with AEW then Iād be on f*cking Dark. No offense to those guys, but thatās not what I want. I was already that guy in WWE.
