Marko Stunt Reveals Why He’s Had To Retire Aged Just 28

Last week, having previously revealed he was suffering health difficulties, Marko Stunt announced his retirement on X. This was a huge surprise as he is only 28 years old, and as far it was known, he hadn’t suffered any serious injuries. However, now, while appearing on the Love Wrestling YouTube channel, he has explained that his right hip is rotating inward, which is causing him pain and could even lead to paralysis. Additionally, he would note that he has to look after his long-term health as he now has a daughter.

“My right hip is rotating inwards, so it’s causing like my tailbone to be shifted off to the side, which is causing a whole bunch of pain … Their recommendation was for my long-term health to step away because there is that possibility of being paralyzed and stuff, so that was a that was a wakeup call, and I got a family now, not everybody knows that but I got a family now, got a daughter.”

Stunt first began wrestling in 2015, initially on small shows in Mississippi and Missouri, and this would open the door for him to work for larger promotions like GCW and PWG. Still, his career really took off when he signed for Tony Khan’s new promotion, AEW, and subsequently joined the Jurassic Express alongside Jack Perry and Luchasaurus. However, after Khan bolstered his roster with more well-known names in the following years, the 5′ 2″ wrestler would no longer be required, and he returned to the indies full-time in 2022.
