Major Update On Powerhouse Hobbs Joining WWE

Following a five-year AEW run, during which he held the TNT and World Trios Championships, Powerhouse Hobbs departed the company earlier this month, with it assumed he was WWE-bound. And now, Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed on X that he has officially signed with WWE. When the 35-year-old will debut remains unclear, but it was previously claimed WWE wanted him for the main roster and applied to trademark the name “Royce Keys,” which is speculated to be for Hobbs.

The trend of wrestlers moving from AEW to WWE notably began with Cody Rhodes’ departure in 2022, followed by his redebut against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. Subsequent jumps include Jade Cargill, Penta, Rey Fenix, Ricky Saints, and Blake Monroe, seemingly indicating that some wrestlers now see AEW as a path to WWE, with it believed that, in some cases, Tony Khan actually offered far better financial packages than WWE.
