Machine Gun Kelly headlined the Coors Light Birds Nest as part of a Super Bowl concert series late last week in Arizona. On Saturday, MGK revealed that he was electrocuted during the performance, and he shared a screen shot of a fan video of the incident which sees his hair stand on end as the shock happens. MGK shook it off quickly and went back to the show.
“[G]etting electrocuted during a performance was a first for me…but the hair’s cool,” he wrote on social media.
TMZ reported that MGK was OK and speculated that the rapper/rocker had staged the incident.
“It’s unclear if something really did happen or if it’s just a stage prank,” TMZ wrote. “We’re learning toward prank, because he seems unfazed. Also, no EMTs showed up. MGK performed for early 2 hours and . . . after the show, MGK met up with fiancée Megan Fox to hit up Drake’s party.”
MGK has had an eventful year. Months back he addressed his critics from the rock world after winning the American Music Awards honor for Favorite Rock Artist.
“There have been some people in the rock community who’ve called me a tourist, but they’re wrong – I’m a rocket man,” he said during his acceptance speech.
“We weren’t born on the moon but we looked at it and we were curious and then we went there … supposedly. And these last two rock albums, to me, were me going to the moon. I’m not done exploring the universe yet, I’m all genres.”
Early last year, MGK and his fiancé Megan Fox said that as part of their engagement ceremony, they drank each other’s blood, which prompted a warning from The New Orleans Vampire Association (NOVA), of all places.
