Since breaking up with classic frontman Sebastian Bach in 1996, Skid Row has been through several frontmen over the decades. The latest singer to exit the group was former H.E.A.T. vocalist Erik Gronwall, who unfortunately could no longer stay in the band due to health complications. It was a shame given the critical and fan acclaim to the band’s last album, “The Gangs All Here,” which featured Swedish native on vocals.

Upon his exit, the band played a handful of shows with a fill-in singer, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, prompting discussion that she might be able to join the group permanently.

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, however, Hale talked about the experience fronting Skid Row, but it doesn’t look like it could ever be her permanent gig.

“We left it like, ‘I can’t marry you, but we can totally have an affair sometime,'” she said. “If the guys send up the bat signal in a time of crisis, I’ll be there.”

Hale went on to describe the circumstances surrounding her temporarily fronting the band. “Well, I’ve known Rachel and Snake for the better part of a decade,” she explained. “One day, Rachel and I are eating cake at a birthday party. Out of the blue, he just asks me, ‘Would you ever consider playing some shows with us?’ My dumb brain goes, ‘Halestorm and Skid Row, that’d be cool!’ Obviously, that’s not what he means.”

“He’s like, ‘No, dummy, I mean you fronting Skid Row!’ Not even a week later, he calls me up, and it’s actually happening. He asks, ‘Are you in?’ So I called my ‘adults’ in management and cleared my schedule immediately.”

Skid Row has yet to find a permanent replacement for Gronwall but has said they have been actively auditioning singers.
