Hybrid Theory is the best-selling debut rock album of the 21st century Linkin Park, and a month away from its 20th anniversary, has been certified 12x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. A Platinum honor is awarded for one million units sold and a Diamond award for more than 10 million units sold in the US. Worldwide the album has sold over 27 million copies. Starting in 2016, with streaming becoming so prevalent, it isn’t judged solely on physical or digital albums sold, but also on 1,500 on-demand audio or video streams of songs from the album counting as one unit.

The groundbreaking album was released on October 24, 2000, and contained the hit singles One Step Closer, In The End, Crawling, and Papercut. While it didn’t top of the charts at the time, following the death of Chester Bennington on July 20, 2017, the album received fresh attention and reached #1 on the iTunes and Amazon music charts.

A 20th-anniversary edition is scheduled to be released on October 9, 2020, and will contain the previously unreleased song, “She Couldn’t,” which you can listen to below. The release will be available on both CDs and vinyl, with the digital version will contain a total of 80 tracks. There will also be a Super Deluxe edition that includes three DVD’s, art prints, and a book of never before seen pictures.
