Just five days after winning the AEW Championship, CM Punk announced he would have to take an injury hiatus due to suffering a broken foot. Subsequently, Jon Moxley would become the interim champion, and a title unification match was promised between the pair. However, during his second match back, at All Out, Punk was injured again, this time suffering a torn triceps forcing him to vacate the title permanently. Now though, Fightful Select has reported that Punk is considered to be in a position to be medically cleared to resume wrestling.
As far as CM Punk’s injury status, he tore his triceps at AEW All Out before the scrum. Those with knowledge of the situation said that he was hopeful he could be fully healthy by late January, but believe that now he’d be able to be cleared, and if not now, very soon.
Fightful SelectCM Punk has developed a very negative reputation in the wrestling business among both his peers and fans ever since the All Out post media scrum and subsequent brawl. However, fans can’t get enough backstage news regarding him and what led to the situation, and we will continue to provide what we can as it comes out.
