Lance Archer Reveals How Close He Recently Came To Being Paralyzed

Four months ago, during a Saturday night episode of Dynamite, Lance Archer wrestled Eddie Kingston in the first round of the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament. The duo would put be putting on an exciting hard-hitting match. However, things went wrong when Archer ended up under rotating on a moonsault and landed on his head.

Hurt and dazed, he rolled out of the ring and was checked out by AEW’s doctor. Then, presumably, after getting confirmation that he could finish the contest, he slowly re-entered the ring and was rolled up and pinned by Kingston. Now, having recovered, he opened up in an interview on Busted Open about the injury and revealed how close he came to being paralyzed.

I’m beyond blessed for the fact that I actually didn’t break my neck, you know, a centimeter a different way, and it could have been a completely different result. I basically gave myself an extreme version of whiplash because I bounced off my forehead. But if it had been any part of the crown of my head, I probably would have been paralyzed or dead.

Thankfully, Archer returned to the ring in January, predominantly winning squash matches on Dark and Elevation. However, he would wrestle one of the biggest matches of his career on this week’s episode of Dynamite when he faced Adam Page for the AEW Championship. The pair would wrestle an outstanding and bloody Texas Death Match, which saw Page retain after hitting Archer with a Buckshot Lariat through a table on the floor.
