Back In August, Kurt Angle posted a video on TikTok where he ended up briefly staring blankly into the camera. Subsequently, in early December, TikToker @thebasedlander2 would use this and write, “How the genie looks at me after wishing for unlimited vodka instead of life-saving surgery for my son,” and the Bald Guy Staring meme was born. And now, while speaking on his podcast, the Olympic gold medalist has addressed his newly found viral fame, calling himself “the butt of the joke,” which is likely being a little harsh on himself.
“I don’t know why like, I know that that video, you know, it’s kind of a weird-looking face, but for some strange reason, everybody caught on and wanted to throw out some memes, and I was the butt of the joke, I guess.”
Kurt AngleAngle isn’t the first pro wrestler to become a meme, with our own Chris Jericho inadvertent creating A Little Bit Of The Bubbly following an improvised backstage promo. However, unlike Angle, Jericho would embrace the meme, and cashed in via a t-shirt, and even began selling his own brand of champagne, which promptly sold out.
