Korn and Evanescence kicked off their summer tour last week, and Evanescence singer Amy Lee joined Korn onstage to perform “Freak on a Leash.” In a recent joint discussion with Interview Magazine, Korn singer Jonathan Davis and Lee talked about the current music scene. Davis complimented a cover song Lee had performed and said he’s stingy to give out compliments. He then said: “I’m totally into talent. It seems like music has moved on to a place where it doesn’t matter about talent. It’s about how talented the engineer is at faking everything.”

The Evanescence singer responded, adding, “And it has become so much about personalities too, right? I feel like that’s like the new generation. It’s more about a personality than the actual song. I’ve seen their Instagram but like, what is their music? What does that mean to you? But I don’t want to be the old person complaining.”

Davis responded: “I know. I am old now,” before Lee added: “We’re purists. We’re allowed to say it.” Davis then said: “In the long run, it’s cool because everybody’s enjoying music. That’s all that matters.”

Lee continued: “There’s still a lot of good stuff out there. The world of rock, especially heavy rock, has just grown and expanded a whole bunch. And I am really excited about what is happening with our tour with all the different openers instead of one. It ended up being this rad combination of cool things.”

Earlier this year, Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch told Spotlight Report that bassist Fieldy, who has been on hiatus from the band, was “taking a little time to be with his family. He is a great dad. He has so many kids. He has adult kids, teenagers and young kids. He is just taking time, and we are giving him the time. We want everyone to be healthy and happy. I guess we will go and tour this record,” Welch continued, referencing Korn’s recently released album “Requiem”. “I don’t know a lot more other than that. We love him very much and we hope to communicate with him during the year at some stage, to see where everyone is at.”
