Korn Announces New Live Album Is On The Way

Korn performed their “Requeim Mass” concert back in February at the Hollywood United Methodist Church in Los Angeles. The show was attended by 300 fans wearing “appropriate black funeral attire,” and the concert was streamed online.

The band also released a live version of the song “Worst Is on Its Way” from the show in May. “That is the divine comedy of life,” singer Jonathan Davis told Revolver of “Worst Is on Its Way.”

“Ups and downs. I’m not going to be in denial of that. I know I’m going to be hurting again, but I hope that I have family and loved ones around who can help me get through it and I’ll be all right. I won’t let it win.”

The band also recently announced they will release the non-acoustic songs from the live-streamed performance as a new live album this February.

The CD version will feature the live album plus Korn’s latest album “Requiem,” while the vinyl edition will only feature the five songs found on Requiem Mass with an etching on Side B.

Requiem Mass is available for pre-order here and runs as follows: “Start The Healing,” “Lost In The Grandeur,” “Hopeless and Beaten,” “Worst Is On Its Way,”” Let The Dark Do The Rest.”

The 30th anniversary of Korn’s self-titled debut record will be in 2024, and Jonathan Davis told Metal Hammer that there’s one song on the album that he never wants to play again.

“Daddy,” Davis said. The song is the closing track of the album and the longest the band ever recorded at nine minutes. The subject matter, which is written from the perspective of an abused child, is very difficult. It was based on Davis’ own personal experience.

“I felt like I robbed the world of doing that live for so long,” Davis told Metal Hammer. “I felt like I owed it to our fans that were hardcore enough to come and see us on the 20th anniversary of that album, but I don’t wanna do it again.”
