During the latest episode of his podcast, Lucha libre legend Konnan revealed he is angry at Konosuke Takeshita for doing Eddie Guerrero’s frog splash and mannerisms when AEW was in El Paso. He would even go as far as to say, “you’re not Mexican, dude, I don’t care, stick to your nationality,” which implies that only those of Mexican ancestry can pay tribute to the late Guerrero. Now though, after a lot of backlash towards him, Konnan has taken to Twitter and claimed it was all a joke, adding that the joke was on anyone who actually believed what he initially said.
Whether Konnan is being honest about joking, only he truly knows. However, it should be noted that he is typically an outspoken individual and usually stands by his opinions. Hopefully, though, this can all blow over now, as clearly Takeshita meant no harm with his Guerrero tribute and was typing to honor a legend who came before him.
