During the end of their Madison Square Garden finale, KISS announced they would continue as avatars.

“People say, ‘Well, what are you gonna do when you stop?’ Well, the band will never stop,” singer/guitarist Paul Stanley said.

“Because we don’t own the band. The fans own the band. The world owns the band. I mean, we’ve spent 50 years building it to this point. And by working with ILM and working with Pophouse, we’re all sharing this vision of taking KISS to a completely different level beyond being just a music band. And we’ve always thought of ourselves as more than just a music band.”

Bassist/singer Gene Simmons added: “We can be forever young and forever iconic by taking us to places we’ve never dreamed of before. The technology is going to make Paul jump higher than he’s ever done before.”

On Friday, KISS announced via a social media clip that the avatar show will premiere in 2027, a full three years from what was said to be their final in-person concert. This immediately led to speculation that fans will see the band perform again in the interim. KISS will certainly be approached to headline notable festivals going forward, and since technically promoters would be coaxing the band out of retirement to perform again, their appearance will certainly come with a hefty price tag.
