Global rap star Bad Bunny was the featured artist at last weekend’s Super Bowl halftime show, and as always the performance drew a ton of reaction via social media. Critics of Bad Bunny and the NFL complained that the show was sung in Spanish despite the rapper’s obvious message of togetherness that translated throughout his performance.

Turning Point USA offered up an alternative halftime show headlined by Kid Rock which also featured appearances by country artists Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert and Gabby Barrett. Rock appeared following his show on Fox News and was asked for his opinion of Bad Bunny’s set. “Like most people, I didn’t understand any of it,” Rock told Laura Ingraham as reported by TMZ. “I saw there’s a lot of dancers and a lot of big to-do stuff. And, you know, he said he wanted to have a dance party; it looked like he had one.”

Rock continued saying he had nothing against Bad Bunny but thought that the NFL put him in a precarious position by having him. “I don’t fault that kid for doing the Super Bowl, getting in front of a global audience,” Rock explained. “I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. You know, it’s just — poor kid.”

Rock later went on to explain that divisiveness surrounding the NFL began years ago following quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his refusal to stand during the playing of the national anthem. Rock’s full comments can be viewed here.
