Kevin Owens Reveals He “Keeps Bothering” Retired WWE Legend For A WrestleMania Match

Kevin Owens got to live the dream of a whole generation of pro wrestlers when he wrestled Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38. However, it appears he isn’t satisfied with having just one legend come out of retirement to face him at WWE’s biggest event. That is because while speaking on Fanatics Live, he revealed he has repeatedly asked two-time WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels to wrestle him on the show.

“I keep bothering Shawn Michaels every year to come back. He just won’t. He’s so nice about it every year. This year, I texted him, he didn’t answer me for two months and then when he answered me it was to say, ‘Well, I know I’m a little late, but I just had shoulder surgery, so I don’t think it’s happening.’”

58-year-old Michaels retired from the ring in 2010 following one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time against The Undertaker. Yet he would return for a “glorified house show” match, as he described it, at Crown Jewel in 2018 due to the $3 million payday. Still, the less said about the actual bout, the better, as it is generally considered one of the worst high-profile matches of all time. Although to be fair, Michaels didn’t embarrass himself in the match, which saw him team with Triple H vs. Kane and The Undertaker about a decade too late.
